This is interesting. If McConnell won’t countenance impeachment before Jan 20th anyway, maybe this is a smart move. Whether or not the Senate votes are ultimately there to impeach, with the Democrats controlling the Senate there could be a more extensive and pardon-proof trial, with time to gather evidence and expose _everything_ illegal that Trump and his family and enablers have done.
