Other than the shoes there doesn’t seem to be much to go on unfortunately. The story says they aren’t even sure it its a man or woman. I worry this will be one of those unsolved crimes, unless the perp starts running their mouth. ---

If we’re lucky he was dumb enough to have his mobile phone on him and on - he might have left some digital crumbs behind if that’s the case. If he’s smart, he used a burner phone or simply went 20th Century and didn’t bring it. ---

To join the squadron, members must undergo a special security clearance process known as Yankee White, which is reserved for personnel with close access to the president. Yankee White? There’s a grim joke somewhere in there. ---

I’ve seen it speculated that they were intended only to attract attention and draw police officers away from the Capitol building, thereby reducing their defenses and making it easier to achieve a breach. But because the police lines were already poorly staffed and organized, this became unnecessary, so the bombs were practically abandoned. It makes sense, I guess, though forensics experts should be able to extract substantial evidence from an unexploded bomb, and someone with real-world criminal experience would know better than to leave a device like that for law enforcement to analyze. ---

In 4 years after the Proud Boys take over the country this base will be renamed in honor of this now-anonymous civilian contractor. Who is 99.9% likely to be a retired enlisted man who has earned his crust from Uncle Sam for the entirety of his life. IOW, a man who’s been embedded in a socialist workers’ paradise from high school on now wants to tear it down over rumors that some of the rest of the citizens want to extend a small amount of more of the same to themselves. ---
