**RickJay** had a good idea with this one [last year](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=362820). Let’s try it again, shall we? To play, you simply have to list out the order you think this year’s American Idol contestants will be eliminated. Put together a list ranging from #1 (the eventual winner) through #12 (the first one to get the boot), like so: [ol][li]Melinda Doolittle[/li][li]Chris Sligh[/li][li]Lakisha Jones[/li][li]Chris Richardson[/li][li]Blake Lewis[/li][li]Haley Scarnato[/li][li]Gina Glocksen[/li][li]Stephanie Edwards[/li][li]Brandon Rogers[/li][li]Jordin Sparks[/li][li]Sanjaya Malakar[/li][li]Phil Stacey[/ol][/li]Please keep in mind that this does not reflect how I think they _should_ be eliminated, just how I think they _will_ be booted. From here on out, I’m pretty much just going to copy and paste the scoring system **RickJay** came up with. SCORING: For every Idol you correctly pick on exactly the correct week of elimination, you score 3 points. For every Idol you pick on an adjacent week of elimination, score 1 point. (E.g. I will get 3 points if Brandon goes out on Week 9, 1 point if he’s out Week 10 or 8.) However, the scoring is different from the #1 and #2 spots: - If you correctly guess the champion, score 8 points. If your championship guess is the runner up, score 5 points; third place, one point. - Your choice for runner up scores 5 points if you hit it. You get 3 points if your runner up wins the whole enchilada, 2 points if they finish third. Plus more bonus points: If you hit a turkey - e.g. hit 3 perfect predictions in a row, so for instance if Glocksen, Scarnato and Lewis went 7-6-5 as I have predicted - you score 1 bonus point. If you hit a fourth straight pick, 2 more bonus points (so 3 bonus points overall.) Five in a row? Three more bonus points! Plus… if you correctly guess the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors, that’s 5 bonus points. Entries may be entered into this thread up to the beginning of the Tuesday, March 13 performance show. You may edit or re-enter your picks up to that point but not one minute later. Good luck, everyone! ---

And has there ever been so much agreement on the top 4? I think so far every one picked the same top 4 (in different orders, of course) except for one poster, and even that one had 3 of them in there. ---

You guys are underestimating Sanjaya way too much. He’s got the young vote tied up - the first thing my friend said was that he reminded her of a guy in ‘High School Musical’, which is really popular with the teen crowd. He won’t win, but he’ll go farther than his voice would have taken him. A lot of people are comparing him to Kevin Covais, but there’s one big difference. Sanjaya’s kinda hot, at least to a lot of girls who wouldn’t qualify as cradle robbers. ---

I don’t know how far back it stretches, **Lib** , but in my experience there’ve always been girls who went for guys with a feminine look. I came of age during the late 80’s, and was very much part of the hair metal scene – long poofy hair, ankle-length jackets, lotsa spandex and jewlery. And 95% of why it was done could be summed up with “chicks dug it”. Of course, the big difference in Sanjaya’s case is _looking_ feminine versus _acting_ feminine. ---
