The American Werewolf in London appreciation thread

Dunne’s character: “Say ‘Knock, knock.’”

Jack: “Knock, knock.”

D.C.: “Who’s there?”

J.: “Wha…?”

D.C.: “You don’t get it? Here, try it again. Say ‘Knock, knock.’”

J.: “Knock, knock…wait…”

D.C.: “You still don’t get it, do you?”

D.C.: “Do you know how boring it is being undead?!”

My favorite memory of that flick was seeing it with my cousin who had worn a fake rabbit fur coat. During one of the tense set-ups to an attack scene I took her coat sleeve and brushed it against the back of her neck.

She went 30 feet straight up in the air in that theater.

Oops! I got that backwards. I just realized Dunne’s character was named “Jack” and Naughton’s was named “David”.

And I called myself a “fan”.

My parole officer has suggested that I point out that, although she’s playing the part of a fourteen-year-old, Ms Agutter was in fact eighteen when she made the movie ;).

Back to OP, I enjoyed AWIL for the same reasons others have mentioned, plus the fact that I was at university in Yorkshire when it opened and the moors scenes were very like some late-night excursions I took with friends.
