Same, also to add, I watched his CNN townhall which was a complete hit job in the scheduling.

Well of course no one is forcing you to read posts that belittle posts that contain nothing to discuss and that are full of trivialities. I click hoping to see something worthy of reading. No one forces me to, to be sure. I am entertained by the lack though I must say!

Meanwhile I’ll play with Yang updates!

[Monmouth poll](https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/documents/monmouthpoll_us_042319.pdf/) (A+ rated) drops Yang to less than 1% support.

[Morning Consult](https://morningconsult.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Political-Intelligence-4.23.19.pdf) OTOH has him up to 2% support and name recognition now up to 47%. Most who have heard of him though have no opinion about him.

[Ipsos](https://fingfx.thomsonreuters.com/gfx/mkt/11/9830/9740/2019%20Reuters%20Democratic%20Primary%20Horserace%2004%2023%202019.pdf) splits the difference and has his support at a stable 1%.

He is getting more known. The reaction though seems to be mostly meh. Not hate, not love, just meh.

More updates to come I am sure!

What is “they’ll do the same” supposed to mean? And I have no idea why you think I love Buttigieg. He seems like an intelligent young mayor but I certainly don’t think he should be President. But this Yang guy is pure dilettante - he’d definitely be worse.

You certainly loved him in the Buttigieg thread.

But I understand the contempt though, an empty, articulate vessel like Pete would probably help you not have to pay extra taxes for universal healthcare or any progressive policies or programmes which would affect your bottom line.

Nope, doesn’t make sense.

And the full extent of the love I’ve shown for Buttiglieg is “he seems like a real asset.” You’re going a little over over top here.

**Ryan Liam** ,

You do seem quite fixated with the attention and support that Buttigieg has gained (which perhaps you were hoping would be Yang’s break out of the lower pack). FWIW I’ve also not thought of him as the best nominee this cycle. I’ve liked what I’ve heard when I’ve heard him but he’s too young and not yet experienced enough for the job, and he has, as you note, not yet given very many specifics that can be considered in detail. I anticipate that he will be someone to follow for future cycles though. If his support ends up having legs then he will indeed get some more critical treatment. I will be beyond shocked if he becomes the nominee … but the current world is a crazy place.

What sort of treatment do you imagine is the Yang (and Beto) treatment? It seems that “the treatment” is actually listening to what they have to say and considering its potential value and impact with the same critical eye we give other possible “big ideas” … someone polling at about 1% (+/- 1%) is very lucky to get that.

I can’t see what “treatment” Yang and Beto’s campaigns have shared.

Nah, I seem to remember you saying ‘I don’t like my politicians too radical’ Buttigieg seems right up your street.

No, Buttigieg independent of my thoughts on Yang is a terrible candidate. The fact he’s not straight and speaks several languages has blindsided alot of people into thinking he’s different, when in fact, he’s not that much different from Beto.

This is the problem with you older types, there are massive structural issues in the US economy and in quality of life, and your support goes to someone who will retain the status quo as much as possible.

What ‘big ideas’ Do Biden, Beto and Buttigieg have? I’ll wait.

Beto is getting sidelined as he’s not needed due to Buttigieg and Biden throwing their hats into the ring. Yang is getting sidelined because his policies are as radical the same way Bernies are.

Not really. There’s 20 candidates and most of them are going to get “sidelined”, many of them because they are flaky nothing candidates. Yang is one of those. You shouldn’t be so in love with him just because he has radical ideas. Sometimes radical ideas are bad ideas and it’s been explained pretty in depth in this thread why Yang’s ideas are ill conceived.

Then you might as well add your buddy Buttigieg in that bag too, because despite Yang being lower on the pecking order, at least he’s got policies and actually thought out what he wanted to do when being president, rather than making it up whilst on the job, or doing whatever his corporate donors told him to do.

If someone’s going to dissuade me from Yangs candidacy, it’s not going to be you.

10% VAT is not regressive, Amazon not paying its taxes, which your best pal Pete has not even outlined yet, _is_ regressive. The only liar here is the candidate who is doing the lie of omission, and it sure aint my man Yang.

Regressive is when a tax effects lower income people proportionally more than higher income people. It doesn’t just mean “bad”. It’s a matter of definition and a VAT on consumer goods is well known to be regressive. Your buddy Yang knows perfectly well that it won’t meaningfully change Amazon’s tax burden. So, he’s a liar by pretending it will.
