Just for giggles, I opened up the link in the OP. I think that title should be in color. Full color. Each letter, a color. With sparkles… and sprinkles… and MnMs… and a couple of rainbows and a pink unicorn with overlarge blue eyes… And it should blink. Yep, it totally sounds like the sort of stuff that comes in ppts made by someone who just discovered the animation functions. Needs more color. And sparkles. ---

Well, not hominids, but definitely [great apes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigantopithecus) were around bigger than that and during a time period overlapping with all sorts of hominids and humans. And as also mentioned, of all the organisms this planet has ever seen, we will only ever know of a tiny percentage. ---
