So why do they keep changing the time that it will be showing. One minute they are saying it will be on Wednesday at it’s normal time slot, now they are saying Thursday! How can they expect all of their viewers to be aware of the constant time changes?
Frankly, I was pretty disappointed with this episode since both teams acted like morons. This was the easiest task of the three and should have taken three hours, tops – plus, they should have gotten much better deals.
First, while the gold was the most expensive item, it’s a commodity so there was no margin in it. Hence, no real discount was possible. Go to any dealer, find out the spread and make your best deal – spend ten minutes, tops.
As one of the contestants pointed out, the biggest opportunity to negotiate was in the items with the biggest markups, i.e. the luxury items like the golf clubs and cigars. In any negotiation, knowledge is king. Hit the internet, find best prices, print 'em out and start working the phone to find out who in New York has the best price. Send guys out in cabs to close the deal and bring the stuff back. Ditto with the leg wax, except you can skip the Internet part.
Finally, the squid is a wasting asset. Hit China Town at 4:30 and buy squid that’s at it’s sell-by date.
There are little hole-in-the-wall places all over town. True, Chinatown was a better bet for a truly cheap leg wax, but they could have easily found a cheaper place where they were. They were just stupid. They went into a fancy looking place located in a prime location. They should have just walked down a side street and found a more modest looking place.
Rickjay great idea for the lemonade episode on hiring the model, that probably would have won it for them.
This week’s episode - I think I could have gotten better deals in New York using the internet/phone from 1000 miles away than the guys did right there in town.
I also think this would have been a great idea. If the guys had any negotiating prowess, they probably could have hired a model for free - national, prime-time TV exposure is hard to beat. Of course, if the guys were really smart, they might have charged the modeling company for a, “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” plus free advertising for the agency.
Overall, I think the guys will be much better off without Sam. I’m just surprised Trump kept him around this long.
