Jennifer Murphy did show signs of promise early on, as evidenced in the lamented DQ task. For this reason, and because Kristi was pretty much unredeemable, I thought Trump did the right thing in letting her stay last week. Jennifer M screwed up on the Zathura task, but I could see her doing better in the future. This time though… Ugh. If a beauty queen can’t sell stuff to a bunch of testoterone-laden sports fans, then something is seriously wrong. ---

this was only the 2nd time I watched this this year, and only because I had my vcr going for Survivor. I won’t be in any hurry to stay in touch with it. Now didn’t I see the promos saying Trump had to cut short his outing to come back and tend to this?? that’s not what it seemed to me. And didn’t they show him in promos in boardroom saying to someone " What is wrong with you?" “Why don’t you just shut up?” I didn’t hear him say those things last night. But my jaw did drop when he fired them all. Umm…It was Huge! Randall seems sharp, and Marshawn…not so much for the others. And that one…Felicia?..pull your pants up honey, showing your thong/wedgie on tv trying to get a job for Trump might not be the best way. hate to admit this, but I have a softball bat that cost more than a set of golf clubs. Some of them are real pricey these days. But they seemed to want to put on a clinic rather than a salespitch. Not much selling, you would have thought someone would have …get ready …‘stepped up to the plate’. ---

Not to claim extraordinary business acumen, but I was sure which team would win as soon as they announced the sports chosen. My thinking was that this is a task about selling EXTRA stuff to people who have already come to the store to buy something. (Vs. attracting extra people to the store.) So which sports lend themselves to impulse purchases? There are sports were the players pretty much accept that how well they do is dependent only on their own strengths and skills, and other sportsin which a lot of players believe that NEW & IMPROVED & SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH _equipment_ can offer them an edge. Baseball players are the first sort, ime. Especially for kids: the kid gets the glove of his choice and starts the arcane ritual of breaking it in, and basically sticks with it. A bat? Hey, is one aluminum bat any different from another? OTOH, you can sell a fisherman who already owns 500 lures a 501st merely by saying that XXXX fish likes it better. Tennis players are always hungering after new & improved rackets. And golfers are NOTORIOUS suckers for any new ‘breakthrough’ in club design. On top of that, I think it’s pretty well established that golfers tend to have higher average incomes than a lot of other sports. Who do you think it’s going to be easier to sell another jacket to, the guy who makes $30 thou or the the one with $150 thou? ---

I’m with **StarvingButStrong**. Despite Carolyn’s amusement at people who knew nothing about golf selling golf equipment, they’d really caught the point. Golfers are always looking for an excuse to buy new golf stuff, and “Well, I’ve got to hang around here while the kids are playing anyway” is a great excuse. ---

First the teams were shuffled, with Markus, Clay and Adam going over to Caputol Edge and Marshawn, “Jenthura” and Rebecca going to Excel. The challenge was to create a gimmick to boost sales two respective sporting goods stores. They were each supposed to pick one sport to concentrate on. CE (with Alla as PM) chose golf, built a putting green for kids and hustled selling golf clothes and clubs to the parents. Excel (with Josh as PM) built a batting cage which attracted a huge crowd but also took up a lot of room and diverted people’s attention away from the merchandise. CE boosted sales by over 70% but Excel actually _lost_ their store money and they sold more 30% _less_ than the average. The “Worst…Loss…Ever…” Carolyn had been in charge of the tasks but the Donald flew back for the boardroom. Josh and Jenthura were the most on the hook because Josh was PM and made stupid choices. Jen had bragged about what a great salesperson she was and sold nothing. Trump sent Rebecca, Marshawn and Brian back upstairs becaise Rebecca and Marshawn had done a decent job selling and Brian had an exemption. He then brought the remaining four into the boardroom (instead of three), let them scream at each other for a while and fired all four of them (Josh, Jen, Mark and James). It was probably overkill but it was also kind of awesome…especially when they showed the four of them all crammed into the back of the cab, quietly stewing in their own juices. ---

I think it was Josh who said that Rebecca was their top sales person, with Marshawn and Brian close behind her.
