I think both sides of the argument in the OP are really fucking boring. None of us know what’s _actually_ going to happen. Whether overly optimistic or the opposite, none of us have a crystal ball or proprietary knowledge, yet everyone is suddenly an “expert”. That being said, if I’m going to read fiction, I’d rather it be hopeful. ---

My point is that things ARE being done right now. And they’re being done by people who believe they can make a difference, not by people who’ve already given up and decided that nothing anyone can do can possibly help and that even thinking it’s possible to do something is foolish. ---
