As I said over in that thread, if this is allowed to stand crap like this will become the norm.
Great! There’s an ACTUAL example of Trump doing something egregious that we can and should raise holy hell about, and if our representatives refuse to do anything about it, then we hold them accountable as well.
There’s been a ton of such things.
Because I’ve answered it multiple times and I shouldn’t have to keep repeating myself. Vote. Protest. Organize. Primary your representatives who refuse to take action. Run for office yourself. Vote with your wallet. Boycott. Show solidarity with the oppressed. Stop telling people there’s nothing they can do.
Then focus on those instead of outlandish doomsday scenarios.
Why is it my, well supported by your posts, fear that that means primarying Democrats?
Called it!
Because it does. The Schumer-Pelosi-Jeffries establishment is content to let this country burn to protect their petty fiefdom. You want to stop Trump, it means we need to do to them what Republicans did to their cowed and enfeebled establishment in 2010. Stop being afraid of the enemy and learn how to use their own tactics against them.
You realize that a plain reading of that makes Democrats the enemy?
Of course the Republicans will patiently stand by while the Democrats get their house in order, and won’t use it as an opportunity to grab power by any means necessary with an end goal of pretty much eliminating any future opposition.
Right?
Lie, cheat and steal?
Nah, they’ll be overjoyed by getting to run against a party that has it’s current ‘radicals’ as moderates.
The Schumer-Pelosi-Jeffries establishment? Why did you leave out Biden?
“Let’s not get rid of our incompetent leadership that’s failing to do anything about Trump, because if we do, we might fail to do anything about Trump!”
Do you want to stop Trump or not?
Because if the former three hadn’t gotten their way, the latter would still be president and we’d be sleeping soundly at night.
The Democrats could raise Ronald Reagan from the dead and run him and Republicans would call him a radical. Stop letting Republicans dictate what Democrats should be fighting for. Democratic policies are consistently popular in the polls - it’s Democratic politicians who aren’t because nobody trusts them to make good on those policies. Run a Democrat who actually stands for what’s right instead of what focus groups and James Carville approve of and you’ll get results. You know, like we did in 2008.
Do you give a flying fuck how it happens, or that if we take that ridiculous route we will be seen as Republican Light and lose everyone that sees us as a more humane and better party? Frankly, any influence you had here when it comes to Trump’s abilities and future prospects went right down the crapper when he got reelected.
This doesn’t in the least address what the Republicans will be doing while waste what little time we have playing the “The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good” game.
“Taking a ridiculous route that will be seen as Republican Light” is what Democrats did last year. How’d that work out?
I don’t give a fuck what they do while we get our house in order. Either we do and we beat them, or we don’t and it doesn’t matter what they do because we won’t be able to do anything about it anyway. Do you think the Republicans spent 2009 saying “We can’t challenge our leaders now or Obama will destroy us all”? No. They started a revolution that changed the face of their party and now they have a governing trifecta. The Tea Party WON. You want to stop Trump? We need to do the same.
And to a whole lot of the folks that want to eliminate the Schumer-Pelosi-Jeffries establishment Biden is Republican Light.
Solid moral advice, from the guy who used to talk about how he’d turn in fugitive slaves.
Solid moral advice from the guy who, initially, said he would not support Harris.
Yeah. I said that. Ten years ago. And I was wrong.
I said that if Biden drops out, Trump wins. And I was right.
I should’ve stuck to my guns re: Harris. She was a bad candidate who never had a chance and I let myself get suckered in. If she’d suffered a bigger defeat maybe people would be more amenable to kicking the Surrender Caucus out of this party.
Ten years or ten minutes, you’re still the guy who couldn’t, on his own, work through the morality of helping an escaped slave.
Well, the most recent time I suggested I didn’t support enforcing the law against someone who did nothing wrong, I was accused of being an anarchist lunatic, so you’ll have to excuse my confusion as to whether the rule of law is a fundamental building block of society that must be protected at all cost or an impediment to justice that it is good and righteous to stand against.
