It’s not just that there aren’t spines, there is also no political will. There is no pro-democracy contingent in America, at least not one that is willing to take any steps to protect democracy if those steps are the least bit inconvenient. Americans have been de-educated and complacent. It’s too late.
Americans here get upset when posters talk about America the way they talked about other countries. The question now, is who in the world will stop America? My hope is that Europe will finally wake the fuck up.
The UK certainly isn’t going to. The various political parties seem to be taking notes from America instead.

Surprisingly, Portugal is stepping up and of course France, Germany and Canada have shown fight. My hope is that the western Democracies form a coalition with China to undermine the US. We’ve largely dismantled our professional military and security services, now is the time to flood the zone with disruptive agents.
It’d be nice if Spain did, given how recently they were under fascist (or fascist-lite) rule. Has anyone checked whether Francisco Franco is still dead?

Congress will act ONLY if they believe action is in their own self-interest. And they won’t feel that unless their own fortunes and safety are in danger.
Oligarchs, too, could find the incentive to instruct the Congress-people they own to act, IF they believe that’s in their own self-interest. Both these things require some combination of:
***People in the streets—TEN MILLION or more—protesting peacefully so that Donald won’t feel he can give orders to open fire, and
***Economic upheaval–boycotts and strikes. Enough disruption to make the oligarchs fear they won’t be able to maintain their 17 yachts anymore.
Trump could be removed from office, but only if those now supporting him (overtly or by inaction) begin to fear for themselves.

Only if you’re Trump’s friends. If you’re not his friend, then making a critical comment about him or his friends on social media is treasonous, and at a minimum should cost you your job.
There’s no hypocrisy; It’s really simple. If you’re his friend, then anything you do is fine. If you’re not his friend then anything you do may be grounds for retribution, including internment and deportation.
That’s not a legitimate form of protest. You can however, bring zip ties and stun guns on (mostly) peaceful sightseeing tours.

It would be more accurate to say DOJ is expected to present their case to a grand jury- because that bit about the ham sandwich is not so true anymore.
Same thought. They have already had a number of high profile failures to actually secure indictments.
Trump prosecutors have failed to secure grand jury indictments at least eight times.
I’m kind of wondering when they ( either Trump or the people working for him) will decide it’s not worth it. They’ve had those high profile failures ( three times in a single case). There’s a really good chance that they don’t get indictments for Comey and Leticia James and if I were them, I wouldn’t bet on one for Schiff.
