I named places outside the USA, but they’re all driveable. As an alternative to Scott Base, Antartica, how about San Luis Potosi, Mexico? It fulfils @not_what_you_d_expect ‘s idea of a city within 12 hours’ drive of the previous post (Round Rock, TX) ---

I live approximately 120 miles _(less than three hours, even if one observes the speed limits)_ from Poniatowski, my contribution to this thread. Shoot, there were many times back in the day that I rode my bicycle that far in 12 hours or less. Although it sounds like what you were going for was for each step to use the previous step as a starting point and work a twelve-hour (roughly 500 mile) radius from there. Actually, that sounds like fun, and what would be even more interesting would be if someone could then produce a map with a line tracing each leg as one long, over-the-top meander. _ **-“BB”-** _ ---
