# The banning of dimmy derko

Why was user **[dimmy derko](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php)** banned? I only know of him because of [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=672144) (and a related pit thread) in which he and another poster mounted an… unusual… defense of the OP in the face of overwhelming opposition, causing some to indirectly speculate that he was a sock. Was he? Just curious.
