Thank GOD that thing has been banned, finally.
I haven’t posted here in ages- count me among the women who have been turned off from posting here because of all the misogynist bullshit posted by guys like him. Especially him.

I am very grateful for this.
This isn’t about women getting their feelings hurt. It’s about being tired of continual attempts to silence us everywhere we go.
For two years, there really hasn’t been much in this world that is encouraging for women. Misogynist a-holes have been emboldened by Trump and are more vocal. It has been disheartening to say the least.
I know I have a minuscule amount of posts compared to just about everyone here, but I read the SDMB voraciously. I have left for long periods of time (been reading since 2013) because the casual sexism and misogyny was consistent and pervasive and not called out. The blatant stuff was, but the other stuff just wore me down.
The Mod job can’t be easy. I appreciate the obvious amount of thought that went into this decision. This is a real improvement.
Thank you.
Just so I’m clear on protocol, ATMB is where I post to gloat any time somebody I dislike is banned?
Friendly fella like you, how often is that likely to happen?
You made me realize how infrequently someone being banned is someone I do not like.
John Clay was interesting, for all his idiosyncrasies. The dude from Trinidad/Tobago whose wife was freaked out about frogs(?) was actually pretty cool. James Otto Sweet Heart and her blessings was kind of funny and I was sad that she was banned. Then there was dougie monty (sp?); he was weird af, but I could laugh at the guy and enjoyed his whack.
Open misogyny is a totally different thing. It’s not a conservative/liberal thing. Society in general is evolving and I think that is a good thing. I’m not gloating that SA was banned, but I am happy for the board and its affected members that a decision was made and so it goes.
ETA: kumbaya
Otto, Zenster, Dio, Ivan Astikov, et. al. I’ve been here a long while and lots of members I didn’t care for have been shown the door.
I’m not seeing a lot of gloating…more like relief.
You know how award ceremonies give lifetime achievement awards, as in, the recipient may not have been in one extraordinary thing which deserves that category’s award for that year, but they have a consistent record of doing pretty good stuff? We should have that for jerks and hand it out without for years of just-on-the-line-jerkiness.
I don’t think bans should be handed out liberally but it’s pretty clear when a poster isn’t just disagreeing with others but rather the equivalent of the guy who bumps into people at a bar to start fights and feed his need for aggression and hostility.
This year’s Starving Artist lifetime achievement in trolling ban goes to…

Actually, our policy has long been that folks shouldn’t gloat about or otherwise attack banned users since they are no longer around to defend themselves.
Since the OP of this thread has been answered, let’s just close this.
