Yet another sign Philly is all screwed up now: The Sixers are good.
Still, I’m overjoyed at the announcement that the new stadiums are going ahead. I can’t WAIT for the Vet to be demolished!

Of course it’ll only get worse, since the most admirable, beautiful, and oft-sought-out landmark is leaving the city - namely, of course, me.
Personally, I don’t think the Rouse buildings are all that bad - how can we be a world-class city without world-class buildings (regardless of their style)? If our tallest building is as high as Billy Penn, quaint a notion as it is, we’re not putting ourselves on the same playing field as New York, Chicago, etc.
At least Rendell strove to make the new blend with the old without ruining the city’s charm. Sadly, Street would play fast and loose with our nation’s birthplace, as evidenced by his wanting to build a stadium in the middle of one of our most thriving center city neighborhoods. What a :wally.

Actually, the two new stadiums are going right next to the Vet, hardly downtown, and hardly a thriving neighbourhood.
And, while you are leaving, I may be returning…
Oh, that’s where they’re going now - Street originally vehemently wanted them downtown, and was willing to take a huge chunk of Chinatown to do it. Needless to say, the backlash was nasty and unequivocable, so he’s now “fully behind” putting them where the belong, which is where they are now.
Street isn’t even good enough to suck my ass.
