I read an article in a Rolling Stone magazine archive that detailed an LP by the Beatles called Get Back and I was wondering what happened to it.
Now I know this album, after being scrapped due to the release of Abbey Road, eventually became Let it Be, but the LP described by Rolling Stone was a complete album, with a far different tracklisting and different versions of the Let it Be tracks, presumably before Phil Spector did anything to them. Is there any way I can get my hands on this?

The article mentioned is here:

According to Beatles discographers Harry Castleman and Walter J. Podrazik, copies of the pre-Spector _Get Back_ album, with the studio talk and false starts left in, were actually sent to radio stations in 1969, but at the last minute release was held up.

But [another authority](http://home.quicknet.nl/mw/prive/boslibos/322.htm) says that _no_ promotional copies of the album were issued.

And [this guy](http://www.iamthebeatles.com/article1030.html) says he has a copy.

> Originally, according to Paul’s plan was to have an album titled “Get Back.” This album was to coincide with a television documentary of the recording process, but that didn’t pan out. However, the album was released, and I am fortunate enough to have a copy. This album consisted of the following songs: One After 909; Don’t Let Me Down; Dig A Pony; I’ve Got A Feeling; Get Back; For You Blue; Teddy Boy; Two Of Us On Our Way Home; Dig It; Let It Be; and The Long And Winding Road. The cover art for “Get Back” was that which was later used for the album “The Beatles 1967-1970” (commonly known as the Blue Album). The only album differences between “Get Back” and “Let It Be,” besides the cover are that “Get Back” includes the songs "Don’t Let Me Down; and Teddy Boy; and the song title change of Two Of Us On Our Way Home on "Get Back,"to merely Two Of Us on “Let It Be.”

Here’s a quote:

> [@](#):
>
> The Beatles’ Apple Records is planning a new version of Let It Be, the 1970 album that was released as the group’s swan song, for the fall. Though the album will feature the same track listing as the original, the music it contains has been stripped of the orchestration that was added by legendary producer Phil Spector – thus restoring Paul McCartney’s “back to basics” concept that originally underpinned the project.
> “It’s the de-Spectorized version,” says Ringo Starr. “Same tracks, same people. I was listening to it recently, and it was really great. I’ve been away from it a long time too. It fills my heart with joy to hear that band that I was a member of. They were just great. And also, the quietness of the tracks: It’s a beautiful CD.”

I have a copy of the bootleg. There was a place called Underground Records in San Jose that had quite a selection of bootlegs back in the early 70’s. I also have an LP with the collected Christmas Records that the boys put out, and one called “Live in Atlanta-Whiskey Flat”. Lousy sound quality, but nice colored vinyl.
