Best swordfight would be the trampoline swordfight in “The Great Race”. “The Great Race” also has the best “use of carrier pigeons by Natalie Wood in a corset” scene. ---

Best Hitchcockian twisted ending: _The Usual Suspects_. Best use of contemporary-guy-goes-back-in-time plot: _Army of Darkness_. Best resurrection of dead historical figure for the screen: the much parodied Hitler screaming at his commanders scene in _Der Untergang_. Most effective switch from cast speaking subtitled foreign language to English: The “Armageddon” scene in _The Hunt for Red October_. Best use of a five-second throw-away shot that punches you in the gut 90 minutes later: the little girl in the red coat in _Schindler’s List_. Best scene that is (intentionally) funny for no other reason than perfect comic timing: “Rodents of unusual size? I don’t think they exist” from, well, you know. ---

For Best Courtroom Scene, I’m kind of partial to Al Pacino in _… And Justice for All_. At the end, when he’s screaming in court about how his client really is guilty and they have to drag him out still screaming: **Arthur Kirkland:** That man is guilty!
