We, as dopers new and old, share many different views. We are all wonderfully varied people. Although I’m new here, I feel as though some of you could be the neighbour who looks at me strangely. That being said… I bought some ice cream yesterday. This stuff is called “Peanut Butter Iditarod”. I think it’s being marketed to the tourists to our area, who are for the most part from out of the country. This stuff is creamy, rich vanilla with _acutal peanut butter cups_ in the stuff, along with generous ribbons of peanut butter rippling throughout. I haven’t enjoyed an ice-cream cone this much in about 12 years. I just wanted to share this will you all. It very definitely belongs in MPSIMS. Your part is to enlighten me. I want to know what YOU think is the best. Of course, it will be wrong, but I’m a curious sort of girl. Ginger ---

Ginger, actually I work in Calgary, not Canmore. However, I did live in Canmore briefly about 10 years ago. I can’t believe it’s even the same town anymore. But I will try the local IGA. Thanks for the tip! ---

Speaking of really good ice cream, is it just my imagination, or did MacKay’s Ice Cream in Cochrane used to be better than it is now? Seems like it was bursting with flavoury goodness a few years ago, and just doesn’t thrill my tastebuds anymore. Or maybe I’m just imagining it. ---

They also had about five other flavours, all with suitably “Canadian” names. Like Caribou Crunch, that kinda thing. Lemme tell ya, don’t EVER eat crunchy caribou. :shudder: ---

My favorite is Vanilla Bean from Tillamook Cheese factory in Tillamook Washington. Yeah I know its plain and boring, but its pretty freaking tasty. ---

Banana Pecan Frozen Yogurt from Brahm’s here in Oklahoma. If that’s not available, peach or strawberry or plain old vanilla bean from Breyer’s. ---

Along with the Peanut Butter Iditarod, there are several others that my work carries. There is Caramel Caribou, which is vanilla with caramel ripple and caramel coated pecans. Moose Tracks is vanilla with with peanut butter cups and fudge ripple, and according to the company it outsells other major brands. Butter Pecan Fudge Attack is a butter pecan ice cream with pecans in it. Kodiak Island Fudge is chocolate with chunks of fudge. The website doesn’t list all of the ones I’ve seen, but there is also a vanilla with vanilla beans and some others. I’ll check them at work tomorrow. ---

I’d never heard of this brand - and it’s made by Gifford’s in my home town in the cow country of Skowhegan, Maine. Traditionally their forte has been fruit flavors and not the “Death by Chocolate and Candy Inclusions” type of . Black Raspberry, Strawberry, Maple Walnut: these have to be bought at one of their dairy bars to be truly appreciated. Not super-hi-fat and overly sweet like Ben and Jerry’s, but with a very delicate flavor of cream complemented by ripe, rich fruit. Geez, I wonder if Mom’s up for a weekend visit…🙂 ---
