Yup, fascinating thread; I’m not sure I’d bet against our being able to find at least one movie for every year from 1750 to present and at least one movie per decade for 50 BCE on up!

Another requirement (indicated in the title of the thread itself) is that the movie not be set in the same year it was made. None of these qualifies. (Admittedly, this makes recent years hard to fill, so Zero Dark Thirty (2012) has been accepted even though the climax occurs in 2011.)
Since this was made in 2012, it qualifies.
Atonement, 13 Days, The Queen and Game Change are all good (I assume so without checking, anyway). I think the list is best represented by theatrically released movies, but Game Change is not the first non-theatrically released entry (e.g. 61*).
LMS, Juno and The Messenger were all released in the year the movie is (approximately) set in, so not valid. JFK is already on the list.
