The Best Nation on Earth...

Absolutely! Alabama has more rocket scientists.

Some serious rose tinted glasses you have, there. 17% of Americans hold views that are “unquestionably anti-Semitic”.

You sure you’re not thinking of the Asian countryBhutan?

That’s a joke right? It must be. In any case, so long as you narrow the framing of your start conditions, just like you’re doing here (why is 100 million significant?) you can force the answer you want. Well done.

You did read about the difference in sizes between Iceland and Germany, two of the countries listed in the post you replied to?

Are you actually reading other people’s posts?

There is no question for me to avoid. You stated it can’t possibly work with absolutely nothing to back it up.

Where did the half a decade come from? I know I have been illegible from the very start of the green card lottery.

Anti-Semitism is largely a part of the Muslim population of Europe, which is much larger than in the US. So yes, it is true it is more of a problem. I’d put money on the same racism being present in the smaller Muslim population in the US.

You’d be a fool to think that racism isn’t a problem in the US though. It is just that it is directed at a different ethnic minority and the instigators are generally those from families that have been resident in the US for generations.

We’re apparently not holding back on the Big Macs too much, as we’re now officially the world’s most obese nation, overtaking the US’s measly 25% with our kingly 26%. I love the title of that article - We won! We won! In your face, USA! I think we’re taking competitiveness a skerrick too far these days.

There’s got to be something wrong with that cardiac arrest figure. It seems too low.

Of course he’s serious. He’s just leaving out all the shootings.

Incidentally, I found a crocodile distribution map that shows just how prevalent they are in this country. Here’s a (human) population map so you can get a feel for how much of the population has to contend with crocodiles in their backyard.

I’m not making an argument for us being the best country in the world - having spent a grand total of 2 weeks outside it in my entire life, I don’t feel qualified to argue we are the best and am just enjoying reading the other responses. I just figured our shot at the title shouldn’t be hampered by a perception that we’re overrun with crocodiles.

It probably is the best country if your a croc.

I feel the same way about US citizens, but dude, you guys really have the monopoly on cocky internet motherfuckers. And why shouldn’t you? You invented it (well, Al Gore did).

No, definitely not. Turns out I was thinking of Nigeria, which I almost said the first time but it sounded wrong.

Narrow framing conditions? Is that the best you can come up with?

I think it’s quite a feat that we have a peaceful populace of 300m. That’s quite an achievement and one of the things Americans should be the most proud of.

I’ll take your response as an assent that you cannot dispute that what I said is fact.

Neither country is over 100m, and while I don’t know a lot about Germany’s government, isn’t it a parliamentary democracy rather than a direct democracy?

Yes.

You are the one who is comparing a country the size of New Jersey (Switzerland) and a country smaller than dozens of American cities (Iceland) to the governance of the United States. I cannot prove a negative. The burden of proof is on YOU, that’s how these things work. I grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico a city that has about three or four times the population of Iceland and isn’t even in the top 30 of most populous cities in the US. Germany is a better example, but it doesn’t demonstrate anything. All that you have stated about Germany is that it has 80m people. So what? Why is that relevant? There are as many people in the three most populous American states, California, Texas and New York as there are in Germany. There are still 47 other states to govern with a population almost three times that of Germany still. We are almost four times more populous than Germany. But all of this is pointless as your reference to Germany has not been given adequate context.

What country are you from? I seriously doubt that no one from your country has immigrated to the United States.

Possibly.

Sure, there is racism here, and you are welcome to make your counter-points.

What kind of dumbass question is this? This is so up to the individual, that it is impossible to answer it straigt out. I’m sure there is some clown, that like getting tortured or living in a cave, so he would be happy with that.

Hell yeah…it’s is in Europe, where else? Is there even an alternative?

You’re welcome

That list is now suspect to me.

For snits and giggles I entertained what it would entail moving to one of the happiest places on earth, and came up with that article about the Bahamas (#5 on the happiest list) first half of the article sounds very rosy, then he admits that his wife got fed up with him doing nothing to help around the house, and drug smuggling and non-existent ER care.

Denmark. It has been scientifically proved: Denmark: The Happiest Place on Earth. Besides we have the prettiest girls.

I didn’t know Denmark was a Persian country. ;p

On what basis? For example, Japan has over 100 million people, and in 2005 its homicide rate was 11% of the US’s.

Listen, I love me some Canada, but we are talking about an entire nation north of Detroit. After a couple more decades of global warming we can talk, but until then Canada is SOL. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like you have divided the country nicely: 1/8 for humans, 1/8 for crocs, and 3/4 barren wasteland! (joking, joking)
