Born in January, so not only did I graduate at 17, I didn’t turn 18 until my second semester in college. Thankfully I grew a mustache very early ( like 14 ), such that at 17 and a college freshman, someone guessed my age was 32 :D. ---

The cut-off date for me was Dec. 31; that means that come July, half my class was still 17. ---

Could someone help me out with the whole “sat in gum” thing? I can’t quite picture the logistcs, and curiosity is causing me to continue trying to picture it. ::blech:: Both Penney and Sheldon seem to have some weird thing going on with their mouths. Like they have suddenly developed a Drew Barrymore sideways smile thing. It wouldn’t bother me except that it’s new to both of them. “Someone please agree wth me.” ---

It doesn’t have to make strict sense. It’s a crude prank with the goal of getting your buddies to look at your sack. The location is close enough to where you sit that your buddies will look, then do a double take as they figure it out. They get disgusted and cuss you, while you get to chuckle as you tuck yourself away. And I’m not really proud that I really understand this one from first hand experience. Jokes like that are popular in the some Army units. ---

I liked the episode overall - even comedies can have some serious moments. My problem was they didn’t go whole hog. I get that Sheldon is supposed to be socially unaware, but using the plot of goonies just ruined what was a serious and sweet moment. He’s socially unaware enough to read the card but Leonard or Amy should have asked ahead of time. I also didn’t like how they played up “Penny’s dumb”. Look, I get she’s the only one without a graduate degree. But there’s “not book smart” and “complete moron”. The writers drifted too far to the latter. Good episode overall, showed a more human side of howard, with some good one-liners. ---

If Frank Oz or Steven Spielberg are interested in doing the show, I think there are excellent possibilities to have them play themselves. (Maybe Sheldon has some sort of weird hangup about muppets.) It would seem kind of a waste to give up that possibility. ---

imo Raj’s is the real one. his is the only mundane one while the others are all heartwarming to some degree. they could have simply told him outright if the letter was a touching one. if i were Howard i’d wish all of them to be true too. somebody please agree with me. ---
