Personally, if that envelope is the only attempt at communication in the 20 years since he left then I don’t see how any of them are sweet. They would all be emotionally manipulative and tragic for their very isolation. But this is a show from which I want no real drama or very-special-episodes so I think it best that they just ignore this story line ever happened. ---

I feel pretty certain that they are foreshadowing a Bernadette pregnancy. I predicts that’s the season closer - or at least an is-she-or-isn’t-she. . . ---

Nitpick: I believe that Howard’s father left when he was eleven and the envelope was left for him when he was eighteen, so it was the only attempt at communication in seven years, not twenty. (Although for all we know, he was in communication with Howard’s mother.) ---

Unless Howard is sitting on a pile of unopened envelopes that Sheldon missed, my assumption is that the envelope is the only communication between when dad left and the current day (thus my 20 years number). ---

I can imagine Sheldon reading up on parenting practices, getting enthusiastic about one and trying to convince Amy to practice it. Attachment parenting is an obvious choice but I’m sure there are other parenting techniques that have comic potential. ---

AFF will have to stick with her 5 year plan for continuity. Sheldon will not allow AFF to implant electrodes so Bernie will have to come up with some pill. Penny will need to supply advice to AFF to pull that off.
