Raj attempts to cure his social anxiety disorder while Penny uses Bernadette to spy on Leonard and his girlfriend. Sounds like a well balanced episode, with all the characters getting plenty of airtime. ---

They’ve basically given up on the joke, already. To watch Raj in any coed group setting in recent episodes is to conclude that he’s a high-functioning borderline alcoholic. ---

It could be funny if Raj managed to substitute some other behavior in place of drinking to talk to ladies. Something like speaking in rhyme or only talking with his eyes closed. ---

I think there are too many characters each week. Howard and Raj barely spoke last week and Howard didn’t speak much this week. And Raj in tighty whities was worse (much worse) than I could ever have imagined. I think it could have been a much better scene without the “shock and awe” aspect. ---

At the risk of revealing myself to be slightly denser than neutronium, can somebody explain the vanity card to me? I’ve read it repeatedly and just don’t get it. Why are the first two sentences an example of passive-aggressive behavior? I’ve been studying up on the psychological phenomenon known as projection. Sigmund Freud explained it as the mental mechanism by which a person attributes to others the very qualities he or she despises, and cannot confront, in themselves. I’ve also been learning about passive-aggressive behavior. This is language and actions that are abusive but cleverly hidden behind a thin veil of civility. For example, the first two sentences of this vanity card. Is he saying that projection itself constitutes passive-aggressive behavior, or that he (Chuck Lorre) is engaging in passive-aggressive behavior by the act of communicating those two sentences? If it’s the latter, why? ---

The first two sentences are directed at someone. He’s using his vanity card to take a passive-aggressive shot at someone (sending the message that whatever problem they have is just projection of their own despired qualities), then using the last half of the card to be self-referential in a humorous way. I think. It’s also possible he was just stoned. ---
