I went and visited Nomie’s grave today. Also Annie Ginivan (his mother) at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle.
Took a picture of the grave markers, but cannot figure out how to put them on this thread. It says new users cannot upload images. Anyone have some help on that?

Actually, no users can upload images. We have to upload the photo to an image-hosting site such as Imgur (free to use) and then post a link to that image on that site. There are other free image-hosting sites as well.

Here is a link to photos of Nomie Ginivin’s gravestone, as well as his mother’s Annie Ginivin

What a fascinating thread this has become!

@Islandjim, I live not far from that cemetery.

Say, I’m north of Seattle! (Gods, I’m glad I only have to go down to Burien once a week. 120 miles to the office.)

Hey guys I found another tid bit but spelled wrong

CINIVAN-“Alaska Jack,” technical director for outdoor movies and a col-orful character in Hollywood, in that city February 22. He was the father of Nomie, first white child born in Alaska. He began his career in New York and later became a government guide in the Northern territory.

Hey Jim, that must have been your grandpa? Email me at lairdfish@gmail.com

Yes, in Juneau correct?

I had heard that Nomies father had gone off to Hollywood, and left Annie with 3 children in Nome

Annie Ginivin was Annie Forsythe before she became a Ginivin. My grand mother was a Forsythe.

I sent you an email
