# The boat in Manchester by the Sea

What kind if boat was that in Manchester by the Sea. It did not appear to be a fishing boat, I thought it might be more for hauling freight, but not great for that either.

[Here](http://www.nbcboston.com/entertainment/Real-life-fishing-boat-featured-in-Manchester-by-the-Sea-409996085.html) is an article from the Boston NBC affiliate about the family that owns the boat shown in the movie. It’s described as a fishing boat in that article. (BTW, [this page](https://www.claudiamariesmith.com/links) from a site about the boat’s namesake has a nice photo of the boat and the site describes it as a commercial fishing boat.)

I _think_ the boat is used for hauling lobster traps.

Thanks for the info. It did not look like any fishing boat I have ever been on or seen, but if it was for lobster fishing, that makes more sense.

Keep in mind I have no proof that’s what it’s for. It’s just my guess.
