Rules the same as the last time, including the deadline. Hey, #1 ended so quickly I had some free time!

4. What’s the determinant of a 2x2 matrix with 6, 9 in the first row and 3,8 in the second row?
5. Hilda Mae was a VERY good friend of the governor.
6. Arturo Sandoval plays the trumpet, but what goes in the mouth if we’re talking Arturo Fuente?
7. She always depended on the kindness of strangers.
8. Nature’s first green is gold.
9. Patty Duke’s “adoptive” childhood managers?
10. I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue.
11. Navy SEALS – what’s the acronym mean?
12. Where did the Pennsylvania Polka start, according to the Pennsylvania Polka?

This is a nasty one. This is one of those acronyms where not every letter means something. It’s just a shortcut for what the whole phrase sounds like. The actual phrase is “Sea, Air, and Land” because these operatives work in any of these environments.\*\*

Catiline was the one plotting overthrow, but quite frankly there is doubt in scholarship about Cicero’s role in the quashing of the fledgling conspiracy. Kind of like the doubts about the role of John Smith in the founding of Jamestown. The main person who sings his praises is the man himself.\*\*

Well, I don’t know if **Bricker’s** counting this one or not, because it is the definition you get from the first site that pops up on google, but this is not the most obvious legal meaning. In its most common use, “laches” means a delay which causes you to lose your right to contest something (“sleeping on your rights”), which is only weakly linked to the common meaning of negligence.
So, I’m not giving **lno** that ticket to practice just yet.

**Kwyjibo** gave me the same advice in chat. I’m weighing swapping answers for #2, or if I should wait on finding out whether Don Giovanni is more suitable than Don Juan… or if I’ll just settle for 34 out of 35.
Also, it amuses me that a lawyer asked the question, and two other lawyers offer pro bono advice on correcting my answer. You didn’t even ask for one of the six beers. 😉
