I’m gonna miss that creepy bastard. I’m even more dispointed that BK is losing that “rebel” attitude in marketing. Never much cared for BK but I did love how they basically gave the big middle finger to the “YOU’RE KILLING US WITH YOUR FOOD!” types. What happened to you BK? You used to be cool man. 😃 ---

Agreed with everyone in the “creepy is part of the hilarity” camp. Ronald McDonald is wayyyyyy creepier, because there’s absolutely no acknowledgement that there’s anything weird about an oversized mascot in makeup and a wig. At least with the King, I felt like the advertisers knew about the creepy factor and were subtly letting me in on the joke. The McDonald’s people use that fucking clown in earnest. ---

That’s just it. And I LIKED The King! I’ve loathed Ronald McDonald from the very first time I saw him and to this day I want to kick him in the groin. Or see how fast his red plastic hair would melt if it accidentally caught on fire. The King was ‘special’. (I wonder what blah new commercials BK is going to foist on the public. Closeups of Whoppers, I suppose. Snore.) ---

The fact that the king was so creepy and weird is what made the commercials funny IMO. Same as that crazy as shit Snickers commercial with the super-creepy lady-mask thing that shoved candy into the shopping cart. ---

I’m very sad to hear this. That had to be one of the greatest and funniest ad campaigns I’ve ever seen. I don’t eat at Burger King anyway (because it’s horrible), and with the passing of the King, the entire Burger King corporation has absolutely nothing to offer me. ---

I am relieved that the king is gone as he was creepy as fuck and utterly irritating. BK is one of the few fast food places I can eat at, since they have a veggie burger, so I never stopped eating there because of their commercials, but they did annoy me. ---

I grew up with a neighbor, across the street, being a McDonald’s mascot. At least part-time, anyway; never thought to ask if that was all he did. And on Halloween they always gave out…toothbrushes. And McDonald’s certificates. Come to think of it, I think he was a dentist. But getting toothbrushes from Ronald McDonald was just weird. ---
