> Lar, I think you’re right about re-organizing the vault. It’s so crammed right now with marginally useful stuff, I don’t know if anyone uses it much. I like the idea of a newbie tab where we can put low-level potions, bags, mats etc. Last time I looked we had way too many green items in there, which are just about useless except to disenchant (since you almost always get better gear while leveling).

Here’s what’s worked well in the past for me when cleaning out a guild bank:

1.) Declare a short “free-for-all” period on any old gear, recipes, mats, etc. A week or two should be more than enough. At the end of that period…

2.) DE all of the low-level gear (obviously excepting anything that will bring a better price as gear, i.e., Rares and Epics). At this point, I’d DE or sell anything that isn’t at least an 81+ Rare.

3.) Sell all of the low-level recipes, mats (including for Enchanting), items (bags), consumables (potions, flasks, food), and gear.

4.) Keep up with #2 and 3 going forward. About once a week, the designated person should clean out any new low-level items that haven’t been picked up by someone who can use them. There should be a designated Enchanter to DE all green gear ASAP; this can either be someone on the same account as the bank cleaner or it can be a separate person. You’ll have to decide if you want the bank cleaner to remove the items and send them to the chanter, or if you’d rather give the chanter direct access. The latter is more efficient, but the former is more secure (since you only have to give one character a high level of withdrawals per day).

All of the proceeds from the sales then get funneled back into the gbank. It’s ideal IMO to have a character designed to literally do nothing but take care of the bank, so that there’s never any confusion between personal money and bank money, or between personal auctions and bank auctions.

> It pissed you off to not be able to roll on an item that you have literally no use for? 😕 I mean, I get being pissed off at making the orbs BoP (stupid move, IMO), but they had to block non-crafters from rolling on them: too many people who had no use for the orbs but to delete them were snatching them up.

I feel the same way as Tom. Those orbs are worth a significant amount of gold and those of us who don’t have one of the Chaos orb professions on our mains are getting the shaft when it comes to at least having the option of holding an orb for future use if we later to decide to roll a profession that _can_ use one.

The change to make them only lootable by crafters made a kindof sense, at first, given how much use of the orbs cost at the start of the expansion. Yet, despite what some crafters defending the change said on the official forums, I haven’t seen any significant drop in “cost” to use a crafter’s chaos orbs, despite their supposed increase in availability to said crafters. The Chestguard of Nature’s Fury, for example, is going for over 20k on the AH on Cairne–despite the other mats only costing at _most_ 3k (400-500G per Pristine Hide x3 right now and assuming a _very_ generous 1500-1800G for Volatile Life x50). You’re looking at a per orb cost of 5-6K which benefits the crafter and not those of us who contributed just as much to the heroic run as the crafter did.

If Blizzard really wants them to be used for crafting and not directly sold for gold, then at the very least they should make them BoA so I can run heroics on my heroic geared character and mail them to my LW alt if I so choose.

Combine fees have \*always \*been ridiculous. I can’t remember a time in Wrath, with unbound crafting mcguffins, where it didn’t save me at least a thousand gold to take my mats to a friend with the recipe.

Which, of course, you can’t do with orbs being BoP unless your friend happens to have the orbs sitting around (and why would they if they can make 5k per on a combine).

I know during Wrath I saw crusader-orb-era crafting fees of 1-2k, sometimes higher, but nothing like what it is currently (at least for orb-requiring patterns). I did miss the very start of Wrath though, so maybe it was like this then.

And if we were talking like 1k per orb + a tip (let’s say an additional 1k), I’d not begrudge the crafter at all. That brings the previously mentioned leather piece down to a more affordable 5800G at current market rates.

Right. On Cairne’s AH right now there are two Chestguards–each of them are going for at minimum 22k gold. The cost of 50 volatile life right now is 575G and the cost of 3 Pristine Hides is about 1275G–leaving 3 chaos orbs essentially costing you 20K gold right now. That’s not a combine fee, that’s insanity. And _that_ is why it bugs me that I’m left out of the chaos orb running. Blizzard totally and completely screwed the pooch on this one. 😛

To be fair, at least some of that is because of how insanely shitty Cairne’s economy is. There just aren’t more than a handful of people even _doing_ those combines. Add in that we have a smaller-than-usual population running heroics, with fewer max-level professions, and there are probably way fewer chaos orbs on Cairne than other realms.

As far as all of the 15-30k gear being listed - I’m not convinced it’s selling at those prices. I know a few guild-mates that have been trying to sell BoE raid drops for that much and not having a ton of look. That’s the other side of such a casual server - fewer people willing to drop 50k to gear up for raiding.

Got my Uldum quest achievement last night, which means I polished off Cataclysm Loremaster! I was also thrilled to see yesterday that they’d hotfixed the problem that was causing everyone in the entire zone of Uldum to constantly go in and out of combat.

> Which, of course, you can’t do with orbs being BoP unless your friend happens to have the orbs sitting around (and why would they if they can make 5k per on a combine).

Apparently we have different definitions of the word “friend.” I’d never charge a friend (or even a guildie) for a combine or a crafting cooldown. For something like this, if a friend needed a combine and I didn’t have the orbs for it, I’d just require them to run Heroics with me until enough dropped. The two crafted items I have right now were made by guildies I’m friends with, and both only cost me for the unbound mats: no charge for the orbs or the combine.

My first thought is that it’s absolutely a problem with Cairne’s Horde-side economy, which I recall to be abyssmally shitty, and I see that I’m not the only one to have that impression. The crafted items on my server right now are running probably about 5-7k; the only things costing 20k and up are the BOEs that drop in raids. You seem to be getting screwed by location more than anything else.

Honestly, if it bothers you that much, why not swap a profession to something that uses orbs and get in on the gouging while the gouging’s good? The crafters are only able to charge high prices because they have minimal competition. As long as they’re the only ones willing to level the profession, farm the mats, and learn the recipes, they get to set whatever prices they like. WoW isn’t the real world: nobody’s character is going to starve to death because they spent all their food money on a new chest.

Well, if we do a lot of guildie 5man heroics where at least one of us is a crafter, then maybe we can work out some system where we can all share a goal to have each player with one crafted piece if we choose some methodology and also try to share between all crafting professions. It may be unwieldy at first, but if we try to keep it with in our guild, we would end up with a better success rate at getting what we want without being subjected to gouging (unless we choose to be the gougers ourselves!)

Jay…if there is a way to make it work, you WILL have that Crusher eventually.

DE, DE, and more DE.
As much mats as we can put in…hell I would be happy with 4 tabs of mats and a group of guildies that can maximize the usefullness of those mats whether it becomes potions, dusts/shards, flasks, bars, enchants, glyphs, gems, etc…then the other 2 or 3 tabs can be the products from those mats. I would love to see a column of truegold bar stacks!

We have all but 3 professions maxed by some guildie with the exceptions being Jewelcrafting (I’m closest with 507…working on it), Leatherworking (I know a guildie is at 500+ and working on it) and Inscription (I think nobody’s working on it since they are still at 450), so we are quite capable of making some top end stuff.

IIRC you don’t even need to be maxed for JC right now, unless you want to spend your tokens on the blue craftable rings and necks (and AFAIK there’s no real point to those). Anything 500+ should be enough to cut the new Rare gems and metas.

Oh, I know if I cared that much, I could rectify it fairly quickly. It was more a general annoyance thing that my heroic capable Druid can’t farm them for my (currently) non-heroic capable LW alt coupled with the outrageous rates on Cairne ATM, so that I have to play as the character I enjoy playing less than my main in order to progress in my crafting skill. I could roll LW on my main instead, but I’m already at 503 skill on the alt and don’t want to re-level the skill all over again for an idiotic design flaw (IMO) of the dev team.

I’m fine with that. Guild groups are always less stressful than pugs.

I healed my way through 2 & 3/4 more heroics yesterday and am getting more confidence in my abilities as a healer. Thanks to a well-geared, well-informed tank we rolled through h:tol’vir pretty easily with only a warrior who didn’t understand moving away from various aoe effects dying a couple of times. H:ToT was trickier (9 wipes) since only one person in that pug knew the dungeon and the warrior who was our only one capable of interrupting, didn’t have DBM and kept interrupting a second or two too late. But everyone in that PuG was friendly and it felt like an accomplishment when we finally finished. Third heroic was h:gb which went very smoothly through the first three bosses but failed miserably on the adds of erudax (DPS couldn’t get both down in time to stop the release of the twilight drakes). I even got complimented on my healing that run. 🙂

So I have made some learning for use of glorious people of Burning Dog Legion.

Specifically, did Heroic SFK while I was insomniac tonight, and I made sure to point out to everyone that we could skip Commander Springvale if we wanted. One of the DPS said, “Why don’t we just do him the easy way?”

“Easy way?” says I.

“Yes, just pull him all the way out to the courtyard and you don’t have to deal with the adds.”

This we then did. Probably will be fixed in a patch eventually (probably by putting Springvale on a leash). But so you know.

Tried this two nights ago and he leashed. Of course, we didn’t keep fighting him all the way to the courtyard, we just jumped off the roof, so that may be where we went wrong.

Yeah, I tanked him back through the kitchen. As a bonus, the one add he was dragging along with him seemed to leash (or maybe the DPS burned him down quick, I’m not really sure); the other one was sitting in a spirit shackle back in the original room and did not catch up.

As a further bonus, we got the achieve.

There shouldn’t be a single boss in Heroics that requires DBM. None of them does anything that you can’t very easily deal with simply by watching the boss’s castbar and ground effects.

Rottingbird is now Honored with you fine folks! Adding to our ‘Classy’ achievements (85-mage, undead-mage-85) Pretty soon, we’ll have our 15 minute hearths. That’ll be cool. And then if we can get a warrior and shaman to 85 and honored we’ll get the Shroud of Org-Teleportation.

It may not be _required_ for heroics but it is incredibly helpful, IMO, which is why I recommended it to him. During the ToT run, since I knew from experience that the interrupts weren’t likely to be 100% reliable, having DBM’s countdown allowed me to time my big heals/hots appropriately starting a few seconds before her cast so that when Lady Naz’jar’s Shock hit him (he had enough health to survive it) he didn’t stay stuck at 10k health for more than a second or two.
