The Preface is actually very accessible (proving right off that it is anti-modern?, one asks cynically), though it will help of course if you have recently read PL and have it fresh in mind.

“The critics,” though this is a broad brush summary of Milton criticism, which is of course unfair to individual critics who take more nuanced positions. I should also say that this is my amateur impression of the state of affairs. Thanks for your kind words.🙂
