Chris Hadfield performs again! See his (and his brother’s) latest song [here](http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/07/01/chris-hadfield-most-canadian-music-video_n_5549100.html), with which they celebrate Canada Day. Hope everybody had a good one. I went to a friend’s for a backyard barbecue, then we were off to see the local team play baseball. (The Lethbridge Bulls absolutely smoked the Moose Jaw Miller Express, 9-1–hooray for the home team!) Then, it was time for fireworks. A great show, and a great day. ---

Happy Canada Day, everyone. I spent Canada Day in London, England, touristing about. I was wearing sunglasses and nothing that should denote my citizenship. As I rounded a busy street corner I saw a young woman approaching who was wearing a Canadian flag t-shirt. I said nothing and didn’t even turn my head toward her, but as we neared I raised my hand in obvious high-five fashion. We high-fived without slowing or otherwise acknowledging the other’s presence. I felt jolly. The End. ---

Did anybody follow the Queen’s Plate horse race? I’ve missed the Plate for a few years, but I made the effort to get to the local race book for it this year. After studying the past performances of the entrants, I made my selections and bet them on the tote. Among my selections were a 14-4 exactor. (An exactor bet is where you pick the first and second place finishers, in exact order of finish; thus I needed 14 to finish first, and 4 to finish second.) You can imagine how pleased I was to see that 14 was leading in the stretch, with 4 in second place. Then, somehow, 15 contended, and turned on the jets. And at the wire, it was a 14-15-4 finish. I lost. Never mind. I had a fun day, and I am looking forward to the rest of the Canadian Triple Crown. ---

And in other Duffy news, a 30 year old woman in Peru is claiming to be Mike’s love-child, born of a brief liaison between Mike and her mother in Ottawa back in the 80s, before her mother was deported from Canada because she was alleged to be a drug smuggler. For some reason, the Mounties appear to have decided that offering money to a Senator didn’t amount to an offence, but the Senator taking the money did. Seems odd. ---

So he’s out of a job and facing a lot of legal bills. Too bad that he didn’t provide for the drug dealer’s daughter when she was a youngster, for had he, he could sue her for parental support (s. 32 of either Ontario’s or P.E.I.'s Family LAw Act, depending on wherever he actually lives). I guess he’ll just have to defend the paternity suit on the ground that it is inconceivable that someone would actually have intercourse with him, and that the his DNA was stolen from him by the Libruls. ---

The optics of that are pretty bad. It looks like Nigel Wright has gotten a sweet deal from the RMCP and Duffy is getting screwed on the bribery charge. What on earth is the RCMP’s explanation for that? ---
