The CanaDoper Café (2012 edition of The great, ongoing Canadian current events and politics thread.)

Merry Christmas folks.

This year I’ve come to appreciate my fellow Canadians here a whole lot more. You’re a kind, level-headed bunch of people who I consider friends. We sometimes have different political views, but we respectfully consider everyone’s opinion.

I met RickJay at a stand-up club in Toronto this year, and look forward to meeting with the rest of you hosers as time goes by. I have a feeling I’ll have a lot more free time on my hands in the coming years, and am looking forward to it.

Same to you, Le Ministre.

But you’ll be back in time to open up CanaDoper Café 2013, right?

The Trans-Canada was blockaded for three hours at Espanola today (Saturday) by the local band.

I’m sure this went over well with folks travelling for Christmas.

Another reason why it is vital to fill up at every opportunity when driving in the winter in the north, for you never know when you’ll have to wait for hours in the middle of nowhere in the cold.

“Hosers?!?” Well, I never! {Storms out of thread}

Nah, just kidding. I could never stay mad at you guys!

Did you have a news story link for this that I could tweet with a notice to Calgary’s mayor? I was only able to find a story about the possible protest.

I’ll add my wishes for a happy and safe Christmas to all of you.

I’m in Calgary right now. Tonight, I sat by the window of a pub and had a bite of supper and a couple of beers while watching the snow fall outside. It was nice. Felt like Christmas.

Hey, I met RickJay at a stand-up club in Toronto this year. Where were you?

Seriously, it was terrific to meet a few CanaDopers for the first time this year, and to see a few others again. Hoping I can meet more in the New Year!

Obviously Spoons and Leaffan are one and the same person suffering from multiple personality disorder.

We had a winter storm Friday, with a fair amount of snow. Driving sucked, and shovelling the driveway so I could drive sucked even more. But, damn, it sure looked Christmasy with those big fluffy flakes drifting down and covering everything, and the Christmas lights on the shrubs out front glowing through the snow. Looks like we’ll be having a white Christmas for sure this year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you CanaDopers heading off for the holidays.

Yeah, 40 fucking centimeters of white Christmas!

Driving sucked the last two days. Well, I’m off to Bayshore mall now…

It’s bloody snowing again.

One of my friends was stopped by a closure south of Mattawa due to the storm.

I took Friday off so I didn’t make the drive. My Christmas present to myself; new snow tires. Which I’ve yet to buy!

What type of snow tires?

I don’t know. I was thinking of going to this tire store, in Canada, and discussing tire options, for my vehicle, in Canada. I’m hoping this tire store, in Canada, could provide me with options for my tires, in Canada.

Bridgestone Blizzak.

OK. My Michelin X-Ice served me well the previous 3 seasons. I think any name brand should do, no?

I’ve used both. Both are excellent. I found Blizzak to be a bit better on very hard packed snow.

Ta.

Cheers.
