I’m sorry, Leaffan, sections 33 and 34 allow for much more than knowledge of an individual’s IP address.
First off, section 33 allows the minister to designate inspectors; there is no definition given as to qualifications. If it is to be confined to police officers and agents of CSIS, that is not spelled out.
Then, these inspectors are allowed to go to your ISP’s servers, and examine and copy anything they find there.
In my opinion, the powers, as outlined, are too broad and poorly defined, even for police officers or CSIS agents with a warrant.
Toews, being a typical Harper Tory, probably will try to sue everyone on Earth for clicking on it or for having the potential to click on it, because, you know, you’re nothing but a pedophile anyway.
The Conservatives aren’t all bad; the Liberals aren’t all good. Most of us are trying to have a discussion and learn things so we can make better decisions; it sounds like you know all you need to know already.
Awesome. The Federal Minister for Public Safety tables a bill that he doesn’t even know the contents of and accuses opponents of supporting child pornographers when the opposition points out factual details of the bill.
I don’t care what party he comes from - that’s just wrong on so many levels. Vic Toews should resign after offering a public apology.
ETA: Oh, and he impliesthat his political opponents are not only against the legislation, but are also the source of threats against him and his family. Beautiful.
So if the Honourable Minister backs off on his proposed legislation, does that make him a pedophile too along with all those Candians who do not support the bill as it stands?
Nope. He only stands with them… You know, the more I see of this kind of behaviour from public officials the more the truism of politicians and diapers applies.
For those of you who haven’t heard it:
“Politicians are like diapers; they should be changed often and for the same reason.”
How much longer until the next election?
On a change of subject, I’ve been in contact with my MP asking him to support eliminating the clawback on the CF/RCMP superannuation acts at 65, the response I got back was worthy of Juvenal or Pope for comedy. I’ll post if requested to. Also, if the CPP goes to 67, does that mean the clawback goes to 67 as well?
Who set up a robocallingaccount to call voters in Liberal ridings to tell them their polling stations had been moved on Election day, in an apparent attempt to dissuade people from voting? The robocall company managed parts of the Conservative campaign including Harper’s own.
Whodunnit? Some stupid supporter of the Conservatives? The Prime Minister himself? Let the speculation begin!
What the hell is up with some people’s idea that others shouldn’t get to vote just because they disagree with them? I get equally annoyed at people telling me to shut up because I disagree with the government. Do they not understand how the process works in this country?
I’m going with the Liberals themselves. Seems like the type of greasy thing they’d attempt to pull off. Knowing they were going to lose badly, they were planning ahead to the next election wanting dirt they could use on the opposition.
Or, we could wait until the investigation is complete and we have some actual evidence before we go off half cocked in blaming people who may have had no idea, let alone condoning such actions. It does seem that anyone with a credit card could have setup an account and done this.
That’s more or less the conclusion I came to, too - either a party who aren’t the Conservatives or somebody who is not closely affiliated with the federal Conservative party. Not to be too Conservative apologist, but it would be beyond stupid for the federal Conservatives to have done something this insane themselves.
I’m a Conservative supporter. Although, I’m not stupid or I don’t think I am. But the calls are being traced apparently back east, so yeah could of been me. East is Quebec as well maybe it was you ? Maybe it was the same retard who created the Vikileaks account ?
Fact is we don’t know yet, and should probably wait until the evidence comes in.
It’s pathetic watchinhg the opposition erupt into howls of accusations in the House of Commons today towards the Conservatives, it’s a good thing they are exempt from libel in the House.
