The CanaDoper Café (2012 edition of The great, ongoing Canadian current events and politics thread.)

Has anyone said it yet? I’ll throw it out there; Daryl Katz is a jackass.

So, I can’t confirm this, but I have strong reason to believe I’m the first Canadoper to get E. Coli from this beef outbreak! As if Norwalk in the summer wasn’t enough!

Sitting on the couch, vegetating. Tapatalk on my phone. At least I’m better than last night, but still. What a way to spend my long weekend! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thinking of Thanksgiving weekend traditions, I well remember the Thanksgiving weekend tradition known as, “Closing the Cottage.” Take the screens off, put the shutters on, bring in the verandah furniture and put it in the living room, drape old sheets over all the furniture, put down mouse seed, and shut off the hydro and pump. And hope nobody breaks in over the winter.

The cottage was sold years ago, but it still just doesn’t feel like Thanksgiving unless I’m wrestling with screens and shutters and verandah furniture.

I hope you improve rapidly.

Thanks! I hope so too. Alouettes game on Monday; don’t want my thanksgiving day tradition spoiled!

A couple of questions.

Which provinces offer free mail in stool sample kits? Ontario does (for colon cancer testing).

What is the address for the CEO of XL Foods?

Shudder

I’m not sure I like where this is going… :-S

I can’t answer your question, but if you want to mail your shit to Edmonton, a few cents shouldn’t deter you.

By the way, there are two co- CEOs for XL Foods, Brian and Lee Nilsson.

Turkey just went in the oven.

Ah, mine will go in soon. Stuffing is made - final thawing is in process. I have washed half of the serving platters etc, and should probably get off the computer and wash the rest. And part of the children, who decorated their own faces rather than the placecards. There’s a very good reason every marker in the house is washable…

On Sunday? That’s just weird.

We’r doing it that way today as well - that way, we have tomorrow for the washing up, making turkey stock, and leaf-raking.

if anyone wants to contribute to a thread on the mysteries of spaghetti squash, please feel free: Spaghetti squash suggestions for make ahead?

You mean I can postpone raking the leaves until tomorrow? Great!

(I’ve been finding excuses to avoid raking for a few days now, and wasn’t sure if I could find another. :))

I’m doing it today too. Ham though, I’ve gotten into that habit because we usually go elsewhere for turkey. Maybe another time I’ll make turkey instead.

1.17 CST - The Turkey is in the Oven. Repeat: The Turkey is in the Oven.

Roger that.

there are laws against bestiality, you know.

I’m thinking it’s some sort of spy code.

“The turkey is in the oven.”

“The moon has risen over Moscow.”

“My car needs a brake job.”

“There are children playing in the park.”

“Okay, you’re definitely my contact. Did you bring the documents?”

Fallen leaves make good fertilizer for your lawn, and you should just leave them there.

There, how about that?

Happy Thanksgiving, all you Sunday weirdos.
