Was he indeed a Pirate Kink, or was that just a misprint in the program?

I didn’t see this until just now - [Elijah Harper](http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Aboriginal-leader-Elijah-Harper-dies-207866311.html) has passed away.

I don’t see anything in my program about him being a Pirate Kink but, then again, I also don’t see the name Peter Pan in the Cast of Characters for a play called Peter Pan. :dubious: **Spoons** did seem kinda kinky, though…

I’ve played in “Pirates of Penzance.” We’re doing “Mikado” this year in my theatre group, and one of the songs was re-written to poke fun at current political figures… 🙂

Yes, different singing pirates, plus flying children. 🙂

I saw a rendition of “Die Fledermaus” years ago which did the same thing, including a couple Brian Mulroney jokes (to give you an idea of how many years ago it was).

I play the clarinet. 🙂 (I’m in the orchestra.)

The last time we did The Mikado, for the list song, we re-wrote the words, though it wasn’t politically-oriented.

> I haven’t heard much news of Rob Ford for… a few days. I guess he hasn’t gotten in any drunken stupors lately (I think he said he wasn’t going to drink again, or something.)Info emerging at court concerning the investigation into his buddy/employee Lisi, including a sting against Lisi terminating when Lisi detoured to Ford’s house due to the police being there to attend yet another domestic violence call involving Ford. Basically the same old same old. Drugs, sex, violence.

[Excerpts form Friday’s Toronto Star:](http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2013/11/22/rob_ford_police_investigation_domestic_assault_call_at_ford_home_sidetracked_police_sting.html)

> A “domestic assault” call to Mayor Rob Ford’s house in August disrupted a nearby police sting involving alleged drug dealer and Ford friend Alexander “Sandro” Lisi
>
> . . . .
>
> The area behind the hotel is known as “crack central” by locals. The Star does not know what Ford was handed by the man on foot.
>
> . . . .
> The late August call to investigate an allegation of domestic assault at Ford’s house is one of many contacts — more than two dozen — that uniformed officers have had with members of the Ford family over the past eight years. The Star’s sources have said these “interactions” include domestic violence calls.
> Ford was charged in 2008 with assaulting and threatening to kill his wife. The charges were withdrawn by a Crown attorney, who cited “inconsistencies” in his wife, Renata’s, statements.
> . . . .
> The Star has also learned of other trouble calls to the mayor’s house, including one in 2012 in which local officers arrived to find Ford outside his house in the early morning hours yelling into his phone, while a stretch limousine idled on the road and its driver and a scantily clad woman stood in Ford’s driveway, arguing.
> . . . .
> Lisi has faced multiple accusations of threatening women and was recently convicted of threatening to kill a young woman — a conviction he is appealing.

> . . . .
>
> “Upon speaking with Mrs. Ford, officers observed numerous physical injuries including scrapes, bruising and cuts about Mrs. Ford’s face and body. The injuries appeared to be several days old and investigation revealed Mrs. Ford had attended” at hospital to receive treatment, the report states. “Mrs. Ford alleged a domestic incident had taken place earlier this evening, but that the injuries were not related to that event.”
> Police state in the report that Renata Ford had been drinking and would not cooperate in the investigation. Police took her to hospital and passed the report on to detectives for further investigation. Police have said no charges were laid.
>
> •In March 2008, police were called to the mayor’s home, where Ford was arrested and charged with assaulting and uttering a death threat to his wife. But the Crown withdrew the charges because of inconsistencies in Renata Ford’s allegations.

Some thoughts on watching the Grey Cup:

1. They had at least a year to prepare for this, and yet there was a logo in centre field that was only partially wiped out for replacement with the Grey Cup logo.

2. Who the hell is Hedley?

3. Sheets. His game. Totally.

4. Taunting?" TAUNTING? (I taunt you a second time, you silly English Knnnn-ight.)

5. Hamilton not only couldn’t catch a break, but were outplayed in just about every area.

6. Playing the Grey Cup game in your own home field is incredibly rare, and must be a heck of a morale booster.

7. Mother Nature really cooperated in Regina.

8. I’m getting old. Half the people at the Grey Cup party I attended left at half time, and I was the only guest remaining at the end of the game. (The guy who plays guitar in those Stephen Harper music videos was at the party. Spoiler Alert: The PM is actually a real person who sometimes wants to just hang out in the basement and jam.)

Hedley is the band who is headed by Jacob Hoggard who was a runner up in Canadian Idol, I can’t recall the year maybe the one Kalan Porter won? I only ever watched a couple seasons of it and I think he’s the only guy who got a solid career out of it though I could be wrong.

Hedley isn’t country (new or otherwise), as far as I know. I thought they did a good job with the half-time show - lots of energy, accessible music, not bad.

Meh. When he started rapping (I think), I turned off and waited for the second half.

'Nuff said on that topic.

On another topic, since when do Canadians hold their hats over their hearts for the national anthem? That’s something Americans do. Yet all around me at the sports bar, people stood up and placed their baseball caps over their hearts during the national anthem. That’s something Americans do. We’re not Americans; we do not do what Americans do.

I stayed seated, in the sports bar, with one hand on my beer. After attending numerous Blue Jays games, I can attest that during the national anthem before a sports games, Americans put their hands over their hearts and face the US flag; Canadians just keep their hands on their beer.

It did not sit well with me. When did we become Americans?
