From what the magazines indicate, it’s now Celebrity breeding season, so this is a good time to start a \*\*Celebrity Baby Name Pool \*\*. Pick ten names you think it’s likely that some celebrity will inflict on their newborn between now and December 31st, 2005. Rules: 1. the Celebrity’s newborn must be born between June 13th and December 31st, 2005. 2. In order to claim points for your pick being used, you must provide a link to a news article showing the name and the parents. 3. Celebrity is defined for game purposes as someone who is an entertainer: actors, sports figures, musicians, writers, comics etc. 4. Your name picks may not be in the [**top 500**](http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/) most popular names during 2005. Please check your potential picks before posting them. And keep in mind that names often gain popularity quickly, so try to avoid names you suspect are on that verge; when we check on New Years Eve you don’t want your picks to get ousted for a sudden surge in popularity. 5. Please pick names not already used by celebs, so no Apples or Jermagestys. 6. Any article found to say something along the lines of “Ditzy celeb says she plans to name her child \_\_\_” that are dated before the child’s birth but after being posted in this thread will eliminate the name from point eligibility. However, if you pick the name before such a proclamation, you won’t be penalized for being physic. 7. You names can be inspired by anything you like. Hell, make them up completely. 8. You may post to this thread at any time for the rest of the year, but babies born before you post your list will not count towards your point total. Points scale: - one point per name (mis)used. - one point additional point each for the first and last used names - three points additional for any newborn whose first and middle name (5 points total) - three points additional if twins are born and both names are used. - in the case of more than one person picking the same name, the number of posters with as their choice that is eventually used will result in the point awarded being divided by the number of posters who picked it. I have a question–how do we know that no celeb has used a particular name for their baby? I mean, we all know the stranger ones like Apple and Coco and whatever but what about semi-normal ones that aren’t in the top 500? Is there a site listing all names used by celebrities for their offspring? ---

Just the names, as far as points count 😃 You can make predictions as to who will use them, but you still would get one point for it being used even if another celeb used the name instead. ---

This is a cool idea, but what about spelling variations? Parents these days are so “creative” with the spellings like Jhenaffur and such. How should these be dealt with? ---

A friend of mine who is an admirer of Stephen Hawking swears that he will name his firstborn child “Hawking,” regardless of the child’s sex. So I pick “Hawking” as a celebrity kidname. Somebody in Hollywood is bound to want to put on intellectual airs. My #1 suspect: Tom & Katie. Their lovechild will be a girl named Hawking. You read it here first. ---
