[“Wild Bill” Hagy,](http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-hagy0820,0,2034987.story) a baseball fan who became known for cheering on his beloved Baltimore Orioles during the team’s glory years of the late 1970’s and early '80’s, has died at the age of 68. Hagy’s routines included spelling out “O-R-I-O-L-E-S” with dramatic hand gestures, and he was allowed to leave his upper-deck seat and climb onto the Memorial Stadium dugout when he felt the crowd needed special exhorting. ---

[Eddie Griffin,](http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/5073074.html) who averaged 7.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during an NBA career marred by substance abuse problems and brushes with the law, has died at the age of 25. Griffin was killed on Friday when he crashed his SUV into a moving train in Houston, but his body was so badly burned in the impact that he was not identified as the victim until yesterday. ---
