[Danny Ozark](http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-danny-ozark8-2009may08,0,584296.story), who managed the Philadelphia Phillies to three straight National League East titles from 1976-78, has died at the age of 85. Ozark also served on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ coaching staff before and after his time with the Phils. ---

I’ve told some folks I know about my participation in this game and it horrifies them. The way I look at it is by imaginging if someone was making jokes, like those above, about my own death. I’d think it was cool that people “cared” like that! So I don’t feel guilty. I’ll bring the picnic lunch to put in the basket. ---

I hate to mention it yet again, but I’ve seen on Access Hollywood that Farrah Fawcett does appear to be circling the drain for real this time. Perhaps the reason she hasn’t left this mortal coil quite yet is that she herself has not given up hope yet. Poor thing, I just hope she’s not suffering too much. ☹ And yes, I’ve been told that I’m very morbid. I’ve also been reading the obits practically every day since I was in my 20s, so I guess I’ve just been this way for some time. I’m not really gloating over anyone’s passing … well, unless they’re on my list, that is. 😃 ---

The best obituary I ever saw was that of a local man who died two freakin’ days before his 100th birthday. Pretty standard obit, until the last line _“The party planned for his 100th birthday will go on as scheduled.”_ That’s how I’d hope it would be with me. My funeral will be a standard church affair, but instead of the usual gloomy lunch I’d like them to have champagne and strawberries or something like that. ---
