He’s dead, let’s get our freak on!” but rather, “Fred is gone. We miss him, but let’s think about all the good times we had together, and celebrate his life.” ---

Recently, driving a truckload of elementary school children home, the subject came up of DEATH. Though it is a favorite of mine, I did not bring this up and I let the kids jabber away, wondering what direction it would take. It quickly turned into, " When I die I want a ( coffin made of Gold)" one upmanship. So I piped in, " When I die, I want to be shot out of a cannon!" The kids all got quiet for a moment, then one eight year old boy said, " That’s gonna be a big cannon!" " I know!" I ejaculated. Giggling returned at the image. “What about where your body lands?” asked another, in a concerned voice. " Who cares where I land! I’ll BE DEAD!" I think I may have warped their brains forever, but they will be Dead Poolers in a few years, mark my words. ---
