Unseemly as it is, my first thought on reading this news a few minutes ago (Peter Graves’ passing) was a small YAY! - quickly followed by an “oh no!” Even though he’s been on my list for the past several years - some of them as an alternate - I do hope that was not a jinx for him. May he rest in peace. ---

Did anyone have Graves on their list? – From any year? “Peter Graves, because I believe this actor will self destruct” That would have been comedy gold. Wow, he was 4 days from his 84th. ---

Incidentally, I just realized, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of the show. Or the Tom Cruise films. So I took a quick peek at the TV Tropes page. How does the original Mission Impossible TV show stack up against PrisonBreak\* ? \*Season 1 if you please, Seasons 3 and 4 never happened. Season 2 was good, but only really worked if you knew the first season. First two seasons were GREAT, and like I said, the show only had 2 seasons. ---

[Wayne Collett](http://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/la-me-wayne-collett18-2010mar18,0,5294769.story), whose silver-medal-winning performance in the 1972 Olympic 400-meter run was overshadowed by his failure to stand at attention during the medals ceremony, has died at the age of 60. For chatting during the playing of _The Star-Spangled Banner_, Collett was banned from the rest of the Games, as was USA teammate and gold medalist Vince Matthews. ---
