[Donald “Buz” Lukens](http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/7018784.html), a U.S. Representative from Ohio who was considered a rising star in Congress before a series of scandals derailed his career, has died at 79. Lukens was a second-term Congressman when he was convicted in 1989 of paying a sixteen-year-old girl for sex. After losing in the Republican primary the next year, he resigned his seat shortly before the general election, but was convicted in 1996 on a charge of bribery after being accused of taking $15,000 from two Cincinnati businessmen during his term in exchange for votes. ---
