I follow this thread each year, but have yet to actually enter the fray. Here’s to unfortunate endings… **Iron Mike Tyson** - Mauled to death after trying to feast on the ear of his pet tiger. **Tiger Woods** - Might not _actually_ die, but I’m thinking he convincingly fakes it to avoid further public scrutiny. **Bryant Gumbel** - Lung Cancer. Usually results in a pesky case of death. **Dennis Hopper** - See above. Replace ‘lung’ with ‘prostate’. **David Hasselhoff** - Gotta happen sooner or later. Here’s to sooner. **Seve Ballesteros** - Supposedly ‘very good’ prognosis after chemo and surgery to remove a brain tumor but these things have a nasty habit of turning evil. **Christina Aguilera** - Just a hunch. Moved up from the alternate list because my annoyance at her singing is now equally matched by the fact that I can’t seem to correctly spell her last name without looking. **Captain Beefheart** - Supposedly in the final stage of MS. **Amy Whinehouse** - 'Nuff said. **Owen Wilson** - Depression wins. Flawless victory. Fatality. **Mariah Carey** - Has a wicked case of the Crazies. May prove terminal. **Kim Jong-il** - Had to be done. **Al Davis** - Inept Oakland Raiders owner. (I thought I saw Frodo toss him into Mt. Doom a while back, but it turns out that was someone else. Honest mistake.) We have reached our 40th entrant. We have 289 nominated celebrities, 203 of whom are unique. The most nominated celebrities are Fidel Castro (15), Muhammad Ali (12) and Kim Jong-Il (11). ---

I’ve been counting the celebrities too, but I must have made an error somewhere because I have only 288 nominations. But I have counted the same number of unique picks, at 203. And my top three are the same. ---

I may well have some duplicates with slightly different spellings - I will review everything before issuing final numbers. Although for us to have the same number of unique picks, I would need the same misspelling to have been done by more than one person (not impossible - there are several celebrities frequently misspelled, but I am used to the common ones, e.g. Muhammad Ali).
