Welcome. crispijaxx. Entries for the 2010 thread are closed, and the 2011 game begins December 1. In the meantime, though, feel free to stick around and contribute news of recent and impending deaths, as well as banter such as that occasioned by the recent Coleman and Hopper demises.
ETA: GIGObuster wrote a shorter post, and thus nosed me out!
Nice list, but you need to put it in the correct format, too… (No notes, and watch out for that space after the number. I have to get onto the Feuders for that, sometimes.)
Wow, this is the first I’d heard about Gary Coleman. He was only a couple of years younger than I am and my brother and I watched Diff’rent Strokes faithfully (for a while, not all the way to the end), and I remember how remarkable he was back in those days. I remember how another network created Webster with Emmanuel Lewis to try to pick up on that success. I remember going to the movies with my brother and seeing a poster for a movie which I think was On the Right Track from 1981 (all I remember was “Gary Coleman” and “horseracing”) and also around that time hearing somebody on the radio joking about him to the effect of, “Gary Coleman? Isn’t he, like, 40 or something?” because he was such a spookily-talented, hugely successful child star.
Of course I was sad but not surprised to hear that his career fizzled as an adult; I was sorry to hear that his money was lost (obscenely unfair; you’d think that if he wasn’t going to be working as an actor as an adult, then at least he’d never have to worry about money); that while he seemed to be rather depressed and angry as an adult, at least he seemed to be able to keep from going the way of his young co-stars.
I didn’t realize he was having health problems. And now he’s gone. Rest in peace, Gary. Thanks.
I’ve just had a very evil thought.
What if Lindsey Lohan and Keith Richards had a baby together? That kid would have superpowers x10 and be unkillable.
Just a thought.
After a very quiet April, lots more shuffling off in May. Departees were:
Name Died Age Points Votes
Dennis Hopper 29-May 74 26 11
Gary Coleman 28-May 42 58 2
Art Linkletter 26-May 97 3 3
Jay Gallagher 25-May 63 37 1
Martin Gardner 22-May 95 5 1
Ronnie James Dio 16-May 67 33 9
Umaru Yar'Adua 5-May 58 42 6
Ernie Harwell 4-May 92 8 7
Heh! I didn’t even check whether anyone had him, thinking nobody would choose someone who was so old. Yes, I now see that you mentioned that you had him, but in a very small font and my eyes ain’t as young as they used to be.
So here you go:
