[Dave Gavitt](http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/hall-famer-dave-gavitt-dies-73-14544075), who coached Providence College to the 1973 NCAA basketball Final Four and later served as the founding commissioner of the Big East Conference, has died at the age of 73. Gavitt also headed USA Basketball when NBA players began competing in the Olympics in 1992, the year of the first “Dream Team”. ---

I vote we make the rule that the chosen has to be 18 as of the first day of the competition (Jan 1) so those who are going for maximum doomsday points have their choices limited to famous people born between 22-31 December 1993. Good luck with that. ---

Bah, according to Harold Camping it all ends on October 21, 2011. This is after the latest prediction of May 21, 2011. Camping later [del]moved the goal posts[/del] “modified” that prediction to state that a “spiritual judgement” did occur on the May date and physical rapture, destruction of the universe, marriage of Bert and Ernie, etc… will occur in October. ---
