Movie costume designer Theadora Van Runkle has died at age 83. She worked on, among others, _Bonnie and Clyde_, _The Thomas Crown Affair_, _Mame_, _The Godfather Part II_, _New York, New York_, and _Peggy Sue Got Married_. ---

Ed Macauley, one of the [NBA](http://content.usatoday.com/topics/topic/Organizations/Sports+Leagues/NBA)’s first big stars who won a championship with the St. Louis Hawks and was traded by the [Boston Celtics](http://content.usatoday.com/topics/topic/Organizations/Sports+Leagues/NBA/Boston+Celtics) for [Bill Russell](http://content.usatoday.com/topics/topic/People/Athletes/NBA/Bill+Russell), has died. He was 83. Another sport note on Joe Paterno. If he gets fired/let go/involuntarily retired due to the scandal at Penn State; it’ll just kill him. I see him wandering off into the snow with nothing to do. ---
