[David Frye](http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-david-frye-20110130,0,7839063.story), an impressionist who gained particular fame for his impersonation of Richard Nixon during the 1960’s and ‘70’s, has died at the age of 77. Frye, who frequently appeared on such programs as _The Ed Sullivan Show_ and _The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson_, combined political satire with imitations of his targets’ voices and mannerisms. ---

Is it just me, or does anyone else not recognize almost ALL of the “celebrities” who’ve died so far this year? ---

It seems to me that a lot of these folks are older people who haven’t been “active” in their professions in decades. I mean, some guy who was on _The Tonight Show_ 40 years ago? ---

That’s too bad. I remember he did a pretty funny parody song called “Nixon Sings the Blues”, to the tune of “Folsom Prison Blues” ---

It was his shirt collar that was really wide, and I can’t make out enough detail to tell if it was a genuine Leisure Suit™. Yup, had that album too. Very formative in my youth. ---

Apparently prolific composer John Barry [has died](http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/751583/john_barry_19332011.html). Probably most famed for his James Bond scores. Though he didn’t compose the distinctive theme. ---

I still adore Peter O’Toole to this day for his role as the King. ---
