[Terry Clements](http://ca.news.yahoo.com/gordon-lightfoot-remembers-guitarist-clements-one-best-friends-20110228-095748-036.html), whose lead guitar parts enhanced Gordon Lightfoot’s recordings and live performances for the last four decades, has died at the age of 63. Clements is perhaps best known for his ability to suggest the wind and waves of a Lake Erie storm during _The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald_. ---

Faint praise indeed, since the Edmund Fitzgerald sank not on the relatively shallow and quiescent Lake Erie, but further north on the great lake they call Gitche Gumee: Lake Superior.
