News said basal cell. That is not very dangerous. But it is on his beak and requires cosmetic surgery to look decent. ---

As the moons continue to wax and wane, we are now well into spring. Spring is a time of growth and renewal. A time of hope. Light and warmth touch the gentle winds and the scent of life is everywhere. So why is my nose attacked with the stench of rot and decay? The cycle of life cannot go on without death. And I, for one, am getting mightily concerned about the laxness with which the Grim Reaper has been going about his duties. It’s time to cull some of the undead. This is my 6th Celebrity Death Pool. I’ve done reasonably well. Since finishing in 15th place in year one, I’ve placed 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th overall in subsequent Death Pools. Consistent, in a word. My co-workers would probably use other words to describe my joy whenever hearing of a celebrity passing, but they’ve begun to appreciate the macabre art. Of late, however, I’ve grown concerned with my list of candidates. Specifically, their lack of dying. My last Celebrity Death was in May of 2010. After 5 years of consistency and predictability, my prognostications have ceased to result in death. Not just slowed down, but stopped altogether. As I slipped from 2nd place in the May 2010 Death Pool standings to 6th place at year’s end, I took note of my list’s decline in productivity. Not to worry, I told myself. I will redouble my efforts and benefit from the crop of low hanging fruit so tantalizingly put on display during the Christmas season of 2010. It was sure to be a bountiful month of January. Only it wasn’t. Nor was February or March. And as I prepare to mark the 1 year anniversary of my last score, I must confess I am worried. Whatever have I done to deserve this? Please let me see the darkness again. ---
