There couldn’t have been much left to die. He got shot in some part of his body almost every week for 20 years. ---

A few weeks ago I was interested in this exact question, and Googled like mad and couldn’t find an answer. I even started skimming the episodes streaming on Netflix, but once I found they carried less than 200 out of more than 600 episodes, I gave up. ---

That was a joke, son. And I am old enough to have watched a good chunk of Gunsmoke during it’s original run, and damn did he get shot up. After the series there were maybe 5 or 6 made for TV moves continuing the franchise, and I think he was wounded in every single one of them. ---

Ah, just read the [NY Times obit for him](http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/04/arts/television/james-arness-marshal-on-gunsmoke-dies-at-88.html), which says 30 wounds. Maybe that’s where Clothahump got the number. And 6’ 7"?! I had no idea he was that tall. ---
