The Celebrity Death Pool 2011

Sócrates, Brazilian Soccer Star dies, not for drinking Hemlock, but just by plain drinking, ruined his liver to die at 57.

Could not wait a few weeks more so as not to make his death a pointless death…
More seriously though, his efforts to support democracy in Brazil should be remembered.

I mentioned him in the 2012 thread, just in case he made it through December. Too bad such a good athlete ruined his body with drinking.

Does this mean he’s permanently pissed?

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he’s pissed.

THE world’s oldest living dog - a male crossbreed named Pusuke - has died in Japan, aged 26 years and nine months.

I think that makes him about 186 in human years. Anyone have him for -86 points?

What is this, about the 3rd or 4th year in a row where I score 0 points? I am the Guardian of Life!

Sadly, Harry Morgan age 96.

Good night, Colonel Potter.

Morgan also played Taylor Barton in Support Your Local Gunfighter.

Aw [del]shit[/del] horsehockey. :frowning:

Dobie Gray has Drifted Away.

I had him on my list for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

I gave up this year, figuring the points were not worth it. Would have been my only death, I think.

I has a sad

As I go over my long list … I am finding a few folks who have shuffled off this mortal coil (including Patricia Dunn who was on my short list last year. D’oh! Wouldn’t have made it to first place, but she would have given me lots of breathing space (ha!) in second.) I think all are pointless, but unreported (here) deaths:
Patricia Dunn, Former HP Chairman, Dies at 58
Swami Bhaktipada, Ex-Hare Krishna Leader, Dies at 74
Fuji superstar Ayinde Barrister dies at 62

@SportsbyBrooks is tweeting the Joe Paterno health is failing

NOOOOO!!! He’s gotta hold on until January! I didn’t get into this year’s game…

Oak, don’t give up hope. You have JoePa on your list.

Barbara Orbison, wife of Roy, died 23 years to the day after him.

Yahoo! Someone on my list has finally died! It happens to be from my 2010 list, but
I’ll take what I can get.

Darrell K. Sweet (age 77); you might not know the name, but if you read basically any fantasy novels published in the 80s or 90s (or know anyone who has), you’ve seen his work.
