David Frye, an impressionist who gained particular fame for his impersonation of Richard Nixon during the 1960’s and ‘70’s, has died at the age of 77. Frye, who frequently appeared on such programs as The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, combined political satire with imitations of his targets’ voices and mannerisms.
Is it just me, or does anyone else not recognize almost ALL of the “celebrities” who’ve died so far this year?
It’s just you. I’ll bet you’re not even 20 years old yet.

It seems to me that a lot of these folks are older people who haven’t been “active” in their professions in decades.
I mean, some guy who was on The Tonight Show 40 years ago?
That’s too bad. I remember he did a pretty funny parody song called “Nixon Sings the Blues”, to the tune of “Folsom Prison Blues”
I have the whole album, “Richard Nixon: A Fantasy.”
Me too. Listening to that over and over was part of growing up cynical.
80 points… I didn’t get.
That just gave me a memory flash. I saw this guy with a leisure suit with really wide lapels standing with his head cocked to the side a bit, and wearing headphones.
So I googled the album, and I was damn close. It was his shirt collar that was really wide, and I can’t make out enough detail to tell if it was a genuine Leisure Suit™.
Yup, had that album too. Very formative in my youth.
Famous for being terminally ill? :dubious:
I would probably have ruled that way, but nobody had her.
And Nixon looks like he’s wearing a Starfleet uniform.
Somebody picked her story as being one of the best of 2010. Well, it’s 2011 now and the the cancer is in the other node.
I saw this picture of Courtney Love coming out of a London nightclub and I was thinking those points are practically mine.
Apparently prolific composer John Barry has died. Probably most famed for his James Bond scores. Though he didn’t compose the distinctive theme.
He did the score for Lion in Winter, which was the first Big Person movie I watched that blew me out of the water with the acting, sets, music and plot. I still adore Peter O’Toole to this day for his role as the King.

An asterisk after someone’s name signifies that it is a themed list.
Whoo hoo! Number 6 with a bullet, whatever that means!
It’s hard to beat the sweetness of a dead Wall Street financier.
All right, 16th place with nowhere to go but up!
Or down…but really, what are the odds of that happening?
A bullet? I don’t see anything that could be called a bullet.
